Mothers’ unconditional love is well-known to the world, but fathers’ love is barely recognized and honoured. Yes, he won’t say you ‘I love you’ or be as soft with you as your mom, but that doesn’t mean he does not care for you. He may seem strict and firm with his decisions but that is not to let you down, but instead to help you progress.
And, let us accept that even we are not as open to your dads as we are with our moms. But today is the day when you should open up your heart to him and tell him what he means to you and how lucky you are to have a father like him.
In this blog, you will find out how Father’s Day came into being, quotes and wishes for this day and how you can make it special for him while staying at home.
History of Father’s Day:
Father’s Day was largely inspired by Mother’s Day
The origin of Father’s Day is believed to have been in Washington on 13th June 1910 by Ms. Sonora Louise Smart Dodd for her father. She was one of the six siblings who was grown up and taken care of by her father as their mother died while giving birth to the sixth child. She listened to a church sermon about Mother’s Day and felt the need for the recognition of fatherhood. She honored her dad, William Smart, a Civil War veteran who raised his family alone. And since then the day is celebrated all across the globe.
Father’s Day is celebrated on different dates in different countries, however in the majority of countries it is the third Sunday of June. This year, Father’s Day falls on 21st June.
